^ salomon, altagracia, calixto ^

Altagracia wanted to speak with Salomon. The latter wanted her to be quick about it, saying that he had more important matters to attend to. Altagracia confronted him about the problem her new company was facing (about Salomon's negligence regarding the produce of grapes). Just then, Calixto walked into the office. He was surprised to see Altagracia there. And then went on to tell Salomon that Sebastian's body was found in the tunnel connecting the church to the storage area. He turned on Altagracia, wanting to find out from her how to go to the tunnel. Altagracia denied knowing anything about it. But Calixto was still pressing her for info, saying that Gloria and her friends might be in some danger out there. It was Altagracia's turn to rail on the policeman, berating him for doing nothing when he was supposed to be out there looking for the tunnel. She told him to do his job before anything bad happens to Gloria.

After Altagracia stormed out of the office, Calixto told Salomon that he's quite sure Altagracia knows something and nothing will ever make him change his mind about that. Salomon advised him that the best way would be to keep a close eye on her. According to him, Altagracia's pretty damn close to cracking and once she does, Calixto should immediately put her back in jail. Calixto concurred that that was what he precisely wanted. Salomon was pacing back and forth as he muttered that Altagracia's been bugging him lately. Calixto noticed that Salomon was fiddling with a ring and it occured to the cop that there was another reason for the young man's anger. The policeman asked if Salomon and Gloria had a fight. Salomon snapped at Calixto and told him that it was none of his business.

Both men were examining a map of the town, tracing the path of the alleged tunnel. Salomon suddenly looked up and found himself staring at a snooping Ricarda, who immediately took flight upon being discovered.

^ cordelia & pancho ^

Pancho tried to break through Cordelia's self-imposed barriers by hiding behind the antics of a stuffed animal. Using the teddy bear as a mediator of sorts, Pancho was trying to convince Cordelia of his sincerity. He professed his love for her, saying that their love was real and that he's not lying to her about that. Cordelia looked torn. She admitted that she still loved Pancho but she couldn't risk being hurt by him again. Cordelia agreed to forgive him but on one condition. She called out to the kids in the Center and told them that Pancho agreed to play horsy with them. The clueless Pancho looked bewildered as the kids pulled him down and jumped on his back. Pancho pleaded with Cordelia to help him but she merely gave him a mischievous smile, looking pleased with what she has done, as she left him with the children.

^ gloria, petunia, micaela ^

They decided to return the money right where they found it. They wanted to find out what else was in there with the body so they resumed hacking down bits and pieces of the wall. Within minutes, the room became too dusty for them to breath. The girls wanted to leave when they noticed something shiny wrapped around (what they believed was) Sebastian's hand. Gloria reached for the object: it was a gold necklace with a St. Jude Thaddeus pendant hanging from it. Just like the ones that her mom and her aunt wore! They all wrinkled their brows in puzzlement.

Gloria, Petunia and Micaela took a moment to try piecing the puzzle together. They all agreed that constructing the wall that encased Sebastian was too much work for one person to accomplish. "Unless it was not just one, but six people who did it," Gloria ventured. Petunia wanted Gloria to explain what she meant. Gloria asked them if they remembered what her mom shared with them before - that there were six women who met up that night for Altagracia's elopement with Julian Morrera. In an incredulous voice, Petunia asked Gloria if she realized what she was implying - that her mom and aunt were somehow involved in this. Gloria was silenced by that thought.

Petunia set down the vidcam and angled it towards the hole. She then proceeded to clear some debris from the body. As she removed a huge chunk of fallen debris, another skeleton was uncovered lying alongside Sebastian's! Gloria thought that it might be her father's. The girls were truly scared by then and wanted to leave the place when the furniture behind them began to shake. Immediately coming to the conclusion that it was Laura, they backed up against the wall as the furniture fell with a crash. The door which it concealed burst open to reveal Rene and Gabriel. They filled them in on the latest discovery. Not long after, the door opened again. This time, it was Alirio and Elma who barged in.

After an exchange of their usual brand of "niceties," Elma walked towards the wall, sat on the edge of the hole, and leaned back, totally unaware that she was supporting her weight by resting her hand on top of Sebastian's. Alirio tactfully pointed out that she was apparently disturbing someone else's grave. In slow motion, Elma went completely hysterical as she scampered away from the bodies and the rats. Alirio escorted her out of that room and then rejoined the group thereafter.

^ ricarda & chichita ^

Ricarda rushed to Chichita to share the info that she picked up on at the office. Chichita was dubious at first but Ricarda swore that she was not lying. Both women were equally disturbed at the recent turn of events. Chichita wondered if Juaca and Altagracia got wind of the news yet. At that very second, Ludovico came in and accused both women of talking about him.

^ calixto, salomon, juaca, altagracia, ernesto ^

Juaca, Altagracia and Ernesto were on their way out when Salomon and Calixto dropped in on them. Once again, Calixto insisted that they tell him where the priest's body was buried. That they better tell him already before they waste any more time skirting the issue while Gloria's life was hanging in balance. Salomon taunted that maybe Gloria wasn't important to them anymore. Juaca cut him off by saying that she doesn't believe that Gloria has discovered the place they were talking about and that perhaps this was all just a ruse in the first place. The question was now on Altagracia. Altragracia vehemently replied that she would never put Gloria's life in harm's way. Calixto said that they should end the discussion already. He went back to his original question and demanded that they reveal the whereabouts of the body.

* tunnel (altagracia, calixto, salomon)
Altagracia pointed out to Calixto the general direction that would lead him to the tunnel. She stressed that she knew all that because of what her father told her before. Though he still looking unconvinced, Calixto answered that he was gonna take her father's word for it. He then signaled to his men to follow him. Altagracia obviously looked uncomfortable in that place. Salomon walked up to her and said that she better pray that nothing bad happens to Gloria.. Altagracia didn't even let him finish...
A: Huwag mo akong pagbabantaan Vaisman. Hindi ba't kasal ka na't may asawa ka na ngayon? Kaya naman tigilan at layuan mo na ang aking pamangkin at layuan mo na rin kami. Iyon ay kung mahal mo pa ang buhay mo.
They were interrupted by cries of help echoing from the distance. Elma rushed to Salomon. She was still a nervous wreck as she told Salomon about the dead body that was found in the tunnel and how she was really scared. Salomon was up in his arms trying to calm his wife down. If his back wasn't turned on Altagracia, Salomon would have seen how she took in Elma's news.

Altagracia has always been able to maintain a look of cool detachment, an unnerving remoteness that even bordered on smugness and cynicism. Whether passively seething or in the height of unbridled anger, she has always been able to hide under that facade of nonchalance -- unruffled and hardly daunted by anything or anyone at all.

But not this time.

The ice queen's mask was shattered in an instant, as what seemed to be a thousand and one emotions slashed across her features. It was as if her world spun out of orbit. And then continued to spiral out of control. Hearing confirmation that Sebastian's body was indeed discovered rendered Altagracia's impossibly white complexion even paler, looking like she just might keel over any moment.

^ altagracia, calixto, etc ^

Altagracia prodded Calixto into wakefulness. The disoriented policeman thought he was at his house. Altagracia handed him his gun. Berenice told him that he fell asleep yesterday and twas a good thing they didn't throw him out in the rain. Yvonne gave him a fresh cup of coffee. Calixto apologized and was about to drink the coffee when he suddenly decided against it. Altagracia then berated Calixto for invading her home, threatening that he might not get lucky the next time he sets foot in her house again. Calixto was evidently indignant over her gall. Altagracia told him that he can bother her all he wants, for she can defend herself, but that he should refrain from asking her mom any more questions.

^ padre agustin, gloria et al. ^

Simon told the priest that they did not find out anything from the tunnel. [They found out the the tunnel was commissioned by Don Juan Vicente so that water can be irrigated to other parts of the town.] They requested that the padre keep his silence over finding them there. The priest looked unyielding but told them that he would. When everyone has left, Padre Agustin opened the small door that led to the tunnel and stared into the darkness, highly suspicious that the kids found someting out there.

* in the hospital
Padre Agustin paid Marcos a visit. He told Marcos that he found the kids inside the church that morning and that they came through the tunnel that was shut down years ago. The priest told him that the kids were hiding something, only they wouldn't say anything about it. Just then, Simon walked in. Padre Agustin ratted him out to his brother. Simon looked at him accusingly and muttered that he thought he'd keep it a secret, like a confession of sorts. The stern-looking priest cut him off, saying that it was no confession, nobody confessed to him so he wasn't bound by secrecy, and he'll definitely won't hide something like this, considering the gravity of the matter. Simon was forced to come clean to Marcos - that Gloria, through Sebastian's help, led them to where the remains of his brother lay. Marcos looked as if he took a severe blow to the head. He wanted to know where they found the bones. Calixto walked in at this point and heard about the discovery. Simon refused to tell them where the bones were located, on account of the promise he and his friends made. Marcos told him that whatever promise he has made is inconsequential at this point coz lives were at stake. They have to know who was responsible for Sebastian's death. Calixto pressured Simon on telling him where the tunnel was. Marcos ordered Simon to accompany Calixto but his younger bro wouldn't budge. It was Padre Agustin who volunteered the information. He knew where it was - at the closed tunnel that led to the cellar of the Del Toros. Calixto went on his way.

Simon and Marcos were talking about their feelings over the discovery. Marcos wanted to go to the tunnel. Good thing that the doctor came in, as Simon was having a hard time restraining Marcos. Doc told Marcos that he can't do that as he needed more rest in order to fully recover.

^ gloria et al. ^

Gloria was happy over Juaca's news that her aunt Sancha/Santiya(?) will be staying with them. As soon as she put the phone down, Gloria continued to discuss what the group's line of action will be. Petunia lamented that they couldn't just sit around and do nothing. But then they have to go back there and get everything on record. Gabriel objected to this, reminding them that they were shot at just last night. Understanding that Simon was touchy about the subject, Gloria apologized to Simon but also said that as much as they know that Sebastian was his brother, they have to get to the bottom of this and know what happened to the priest. The killer was still on the loose and this killing spree should also be put to an end.

^ ricarda, salomon, etc. ^

Ricarda was temporarily taking over Cordelia's job as Salomon's secretary. Salomon was in a black mood, which went down a few more notches as Ricarda was making feeble attempts to explain for her daughter's and then Pancho's absence. To add to that, Rene and Gabriel weren't at the office yet either.

* meeting (Rene, Gabriel, Alirio, Elma, Ernesto, two other women)
Salomon chastised everyone over their growing negligence. He told everyone to prepare for an upcoming management report, which was met with questions (as they already had one for the year). Salomon retorted that they had to pose their questions at Gloria, since she was the one who called for this presentation. Alirio made a few barbs about Salomon and Gloria's misunderstanding which could be the reason for all this. Salomon gritted his teeth and told everyone that this was about competition. Ernesto voiced his dissent. He thought that it wasn't competition that Gloria had in mind since the new company of Gloria is essentially a sister company to Bodegas del Toro. Elma pointedly told Ernesto that since he's been helping Gloria with the company and all, then perhaps he should make a decision as to which company he'd like to work for. Turning deaf ears on Ernesto's protests, Salomon backed up Elma and gave Ernesto an ultimatum: Gloria's company or BDT? Ernesto walked out of the office, leaving everyone in stunned silence. Salomon turned to the rest of them and issued the same threat, that if anyone was planning to help Gloria, then they should get out of the office as well.

^ gloria, petunia, micaela ^

The three girls made their way back to the tunnel. Petunia remarked that it was a bad idea not to have brought along the guys with them. But then she was reminded that the boys were at the meeting at that time and they had to get started with this right away. They suddenly saw a figure moving towards their direction. It was a woman. Fear clutched at them. Could it be the MDJ? The myterious figure was still barely recognizable from the distance but was now advancing by the second. Gloria squinted at the figure and thought that it looked very familar. Laura?

The woman was now gone but Gloria felt pretty sure that it was none other than Laura. It made sense if Laura had been hiding down there, knowing that she's being hunted down by the police for murdering Marina. Gloria, Petunia and Micaela went on to accomplish what they set out to do. With Petunia behind the videocam, they began to document their findings. As the recorder zoomed in on the body, Gloria narrated that they identified the remains to be that of Sebastian's through the wire that was coiled around the neck and the priestly garments that the victim wore. Then what looked like a black shadow whizzed across the vidcam's screen. Petunia was momentarily distracted but shrugged it off anyway. She instructed Micaela to make the hole bigger to facilitate for a wider coverage. Micaela was chipping away the lower portions of the wall when she noticed something on the other side and gingerly reached for it. To their utter surprise, Micaela's hand came up with a wad of money! Gloria postulated that the money was sealed in with Sebastian. Could it be somehow connected to the priest? Does it have anything to do with his gruesome death?

^ gloria et al. ^

Simon was clearly distressed over what they found. In a pained voice, Simon told everyone to stop it already. To them, this entire thing might just be a thesis but Sebastian was his brother! He'd rather preserve his memory of the brother that he knew - alive and well, like the last time he saw him - and not reduced to the skull and fragmented bones that were concealed by the wall. Gloria apologized for their lack of sensitivity.

They were now finding their way out of the tunnel. They've already run out of candles. And Rene was flipping out again. Then suddenly, Gloria almost collided with Padre Sebastian. He was blocking their way and it looked like the padre didn't want them to leave. Simon was again frustrated at not being able to see Sebastian. Petunia told him that it was only Gloria who could see the priest. Simon began to talk to Sebastian (who was actually standing right in front of him). With tears coursing through his face, he alternately screamed at and pleaded for his brother to talk to him so that he could help him. Gloria told Simon that Sebastian was listening to him and that his brother looked sad.

Somewhere down there, in that tunnel, was the MDJ. We see the bloodied hem of its wedding gown as it moved around in the dark, with a gun in hand. Simon's vociferous tone was practically bouncing off the walls. It carried through where the MDJ was, who at the time, was getting into "costume."

The group was now walking along the tunnel. Coming from the opposite direction and just a few meters away was the MDJ. The MDJ tried to hide behind a wooden beam along the wall but it was too late. Simon and Gloria already saw the movement and it wasn't like the gown was totally hidden from view either. As they were about to come closer, the MDJ raised its arms and began shooting at them.

^ berenice & calixto ^

Berenice was looking for Altagracia. She was worried about her daughter's whereabouts at that time of the night. The old woman yelled for Yvonne but got no answer either. She figured that Yvonne must have snuck out with Ismael again. Berenice talked to Calixto (who was in drug-induced sleep), telling the policeman how angry she was at him for putting Altagracia in jail.

^ chichita, ludovico, ricarda ^

The triumvirate was at it again. They were gonna try to call on Juan Vicente del Toro's spirit so they sneaked into the office where the old man's portrait was. A series of laughable events ensued. First, they thought that a plant took on JV's spirit, so they took turns talking to it, cajoling the "plant" into telling them where the money was. When that didn't work, they used the ouija board but when the pointer began to move, Ludovico dismissed the "message" and accused the two women of deception (like what they said about their "pregnancy"). They were in the middle of another chant, with Chichita and Ricarda practically gyrating in front of Ludovico, when the door swung open, revealing Salomon who was pointing a gun at them.

Salomon strode into the office and demanded an explanation on what was happening. Ludovico and Chichita gave some cock and bull story about something but Ricarda decided to tell the truth. That they were having a seance to communicate with Juan Vicente's spirit to find out where the money was hidden. They apologized for the mess. After Ricarda and Ricarda have left, Ludovico told Salomon that he only agreed to do this coz he doesn't want to lose both women. Salomon replied that those two were exactly his downfall and that Ludovico was lucky that Gloria wasn't around.

^ marcos & the MDJ ^

Marcos was deep in slumber. The MDJ walked towards his bed, passing by the sleeping form of Calixto. The MDJ successfully wound the wire around Marcos' neck and started pulling it tighter, as Marcos fought against it. The MDJ's mask fell on Marcos. Disbelief registered on Marcos' face as he recognized who the MDJ was. Marcos continued to struggle against the "criminal" as he repeatedly called on Calixto to help him. During the scuffle, the MDJ's veil completely fell back, now fully revealing the assailant. It was Altagracia del Toro, fully intent on squeezing the life out of Marcos Rojas Paul.

And then Marcos woke up with a strangeld cry, bathed in sweat. The police on watch told him that Calixto already headed for home. Still badly shaken, Marcos told the Doc what the dream was all about. Doc replied that it was because Marcos couldn't accept that it was Altagracia who killed his brother. Marcos, still lost in the nightmare, said that it really seemed like Altagracia. He can't believe that the person who tried to kill him is the very same woman that he loves.

^ padre agustin, gloria et al. ^

Gloria and her friends fell asleep on the floor of the room that led to the tunnel. And that was the scene that greeted Padre Agustin. They all woke up with a start. The priest demanded that they tell him what exactly was going on. What were they doing inside a locked church? Gloria told him that they got there through the tunnel that connected the vineyard to the church. Padre Agustin informed them that the tunnel has been shut down since Padre Sebastian's death. And he was still waiting for their answer. He wanted to know if they found out something on this little expedition of theirs. Simon and Gloria shared a look, both tongue-tied at the moment.

^ juaca & altagracia ^

Juaca was finally able to pry the door open. She instructed Altagracia to get the box so that they could finally get outta there. Altagracia was worried about where to hide the box (thinking that somebody else might find it; and she certainly didn't trust her cousin Ludovico) but her friend told her not to think about it too much since aside from the office, there were a lot of rooms in the mansion that nobody uses. The most important thing, according to her, was that they find the rest of Altagracia's family's wealth. Reassured for the moment, Altagracia took her leave. As Juaca was about to follow, she happened to glance at Sebastian's reflection. In one quick motion, she hurried out and closed the door after her. The camera focused on the floor where pieces of the torn letter still lay.

^ sebastian, gloria et al. ^

Sebastian was still motioning that they follow him back through the small door (where they came from). It finally dawned on Gloria that Sebastian was telling them something, that he was actually retracing the step/events following his murder. He was killed inside the confessional but his body was brought somewhere else. And now, it looked like he was leading them to where his body was buried.

They were back in the tunnel. Gloria stumbled over something and ended up against the wall. Images went flashing through her head. This time, she had visions of skeletal remains. She had a strong feeling that Sebastian's body was definitely nearby. Rene had a panic attack again.

They were led by Sebastian to a smaller room. Gloria entered first. When she emerged from the room, she looked more sure that the body was there somewhere. The room was a hundred times more cluttered and dust-laden from the previous one (the one with the saints). And judging from the mess and the dust, nobody's been there for a very long time. On the floor was a broken statue of a saint. Simon warned Gabriel against touching it, in case there were still fingerprints on it. Sebastian's spirit wasn't with them anymore but Gloria told them that he was there when she entered the room. Finding nothing in the room but old equipments of the winery, the group was getting frustrated. Simon suggested that they go to Calixto with it but the suggestion was met with disapproval. Gloria pointed out if Calixto knew about this, then he would take charge of the entire situation and it was most likely that they won't be allowed to be there anymore. They won't have a chance to investigate it on their own. They then decided to make a pact. All six of them agreed to keep everything a secret, that they won't tell anybody what they found out.

They were about to leave when Rene tripped on a metal bucket. He took out his anger on it and threw it against the wall, where he struck his head not too long ago. Everyone was taken aback at what he did, but that was momentarily set aside as they stared at the small opening/crack the impact caused on the wall. Gloria and Simon began to peel away the plaster that was noticeably thinner on that portion of the wall. The hole got bigger and they saw for themselves what was on the other side. There lay the skeletal remains of someone. Could that finally be Padre Sebastian?

^ marcos & alirio ^

Marcos had an unexpected visitor. In came Alirio. Marcos, in a slightly hostile tone, demanded what brought Alirio to the hospital. Alirio, who knew so much about the MDJs' attempts on Marcos' life, asked him how he was doing. Marcos commented on how much Alirio knew about what happened. The conversation was taking a more argumentative turn when the nurse intervened. She told Marcos to ask Alirio to leave, saying that Alirio paid her no heed when she specifically told him that visitors were not allowed. Marcos did just that.

^ calixto, berenice, yvonne ^

Calixto wanted to speak with Altagracia but Yvonne told him that she wasn't home yet. Berenice, who was looking over an album, asked him how the investigation was going. Calixto brought the old woman up to speed with the case. The talk somehow shifted to Juan Vicente. Calixto found out that Juan Vicente was there at the church that night. Among other things. Coz Berenice kept right on talking and answering the policeman's queries. In the background was Yvonne, who was growing more uncomfortable and alarmed by her seƱora's loose tongue. Berenice shared that Juan Vicente came home that night in such a fury over finding out that Altagracia was planning on marrying that "worthless" Julian Morrera without his permission. He was furious at his daughter and at her friends as well. Calixto asked why Altagracia's friends were there at the church in the first place. Berenice reminded him that it was because of Altagracia's wedding. Laura also came there but for a different reason - because she was in love with Padre Sebastian. Not that she blamed Laura, for the priest was very handsome indeed. Calixto agreed but reminded Berenice that the church was closed in the evening. Altagracia's mom answered that it was Sebastian himself who let the girls in. Yvonne then came in with a tray of coffee for them, urging that Calixto drink up. Calixto, not knowing that the coffee was spiked, drank the whole lot. Not long after, the cop fell face down on the table.

Ismael came out of hiding. It was his and Yvonne's plan to drug the policeman. He said that if it were up to him, he'll dump the body along the creek. Berenice recoiled at such violence. They told granny not to worry for it was just sleeping pills. And a bit of a memory-altering drug so he won't remember what they had talked about when he comes to. Ismael reminded his grandma not to say anything about what they did to Calixto. Should he find out what they did, then it will be just one more reason for him to put Altagracia back in jail. Berenice was horrified at the thought and began to remember that Calixto was the "enemy" and that she shouldn't be concerned about his welfare at all. Yvonne informed her that the sedatives will wear off by morning, and Altagracia will be the one to handle the situation when she gets home. Berenice got angry when the two began to fuss over her.

^ juaca & altagracia ^

Juaca and Altagracia finaly opened the box that was intended for Marina. Among all the papers, they found a certificate that amounted to $1M. Juaca was overjoyed over this development but Altagracia said that it wasn't nearly enough. It was not even worth anything considering that her father has around $50M lying around somewhere. Juaca replied that it didn't matter coz $1M was a lot of money anyway especially since they don't have much left to tide them over. While Juaca was still squealing in delight, the camera panned over to the doorway where we see the perpetually snooping Salomon who was again eavesdropping on somebody else's conversation. He then left and clicked the door shut. Juaca and Altagracia turned to the door but let the matter drop, having thought that it was the wind that caused it. They resumed their inspection of the other documents and found a letter from Juan Vicente that was addressed to Marina. They decided to read it. Juan Vicente told Marina that the certificate was for her and that she shouldn't leave Carora even after cashing it in. He also had a copy of a police file on Marina - yes, he knew about everything that she'd been up to. The old man also said that she should break it off with Leoncio and stay away from him, since Leoncio was a shady character who stole from him. As a result, he injured Leoncio's eye to mark him for good. Altagracia couldn't believe that Leoncio and her sister were somehow "involved." Juaca muttered that it finally made sense why Marina was practically on edge most of the time (like she was hiding something) and why she was always talking to someone on her cellphone. The old man del Toro also revealed that he has built an underground tunnel that that lead to the church. Juaca marveled at the old man's shrewdness when it came to protecting his wealth. After reading the letter, Altagracia was in a fit. She tore the letter to pieces and told Juaca that no one should know that such a tunnel existed. Everything they found out that night - the money, the letter, the secret tunnel - should remain between the two of them. Juaca assured a frantic Altagracia that she'll definitely keep quiet about it. The two were about to leave when they discovered that they were locked in that attic.

The brewing storm intensified and Altagracia told Juaca that she was getting spooked, that she had a "weird" feeling about all that's been happening. Juaca reassured her friend that it was simply a storm and twas probably the wind that shut them in - nothing to worry about, in short. Both women sensed the urgency to get out of there. They can't just exactly get somebody to help them coz they couldn't risk being discovered up there in the first place. As Juaca wasn't having much success in picking the lock, Altagracia searched the room for something that would break the door open. After lifting the sheet over some furniture, Altagracia screamed in horror! She found herself face to face with Padre Sebastian!

Altagracia staggered backwards and Juaca rushed to see what it was all about. Both women were astounded, their mouths hanging agape. Juaca came closer and then had a laughing fit at her discovery. Turned out that what they were looking at wasn't really Sebastian. It was a portrait of the deceased priest, as reflected by the full-length mirror, made eerily disturbing by the intermittent flashes of lightning. Altagracia, weak with relief but still reeling over the shock, said that for a moment there, she thought it was Sebastian's ghost. But then she told Juaca that it was unlikely for the padre's ghost to appear to them, that Sebastian wouldn't dare, not now anyways. Juaca agreed with her and then wryly commented that that's why he was showing himself to her daughter instead. Altagracia was worried: what if Sebastian tells Gloria about what happened that night?! Then both of them would be screwed. Altagracia was becoming more alarmed. If that happens, she wouldn't know how to explain it to other people, most especially to Gloria, who wouldn't understand why they had to do what they did. Juaca told Altagracia to quit worrying coz Gloria will never know since none of them would admit it anyway. Altagracia admonished her friend not to be too sure about it, saying that there are really no secrets that remain unveiled over time. Altagracia further thought that the tunnel should be kept shut and that it was better for Gloria to just forget about everything (her thesis, the investigation). Juaca countered that it was precisely why she proposed their new business venture, to sidetrack Gloria's attention. And now that they have the means to jumpstart their company, the business could finally push through. Altagracia hoped that it works out. Juaca continued that once they find the rest of the money, those who knew something could easily be paid off in exchange for their silence.

^ leoncio, cordelia, rebecca, pancho ^

Leoncio told the group that he and Adalberto were the ones who built the tunnel for Juan Vicente, but claimed that he didn't know anything about the whereabouts of the money. He was surprised upon finding out that Cordelia and Pancho knew something about the money. Cordelia explained that it was common knowledge back home. After Gloria was revealed to be Juan Vicente's granddaughter, the will was finally read. Cordelia also mentioned something about the key that was bequeathed to Ricarda. Leoncio was obviously delighted by this, that since he was still Ricarda's husband, he stands a chance to have a share of the much coveted money left behind by Juan Vicente. You could almost see the wheels turning in Leoncio's head as Rebecca looked on with a mixture of apprehension and distrust on her face.

^ gloria et al. ^

Gloria and friends trudged on along that grimy tunnel. Padre Sebastian was pointing them towards a small door. Armed with just her flashlight, Gloria insisted on entering first. Bathed in cold and darkness, she strained to see what was inside the room. Turned out that Gloria was surrounded by statues of saints. When the light was eventually turned on, everyone still couldn't figure out why Sebastian would lead them to that room. They found out that exiting through the other door led them up to the church.

Although Simon was desperately trying to rack his brain for some, or any, flicker of recognition, his memory came up blank. He still couldn't say if that room or the tunnel was where he hid 20 years ago. All of them were at their wits' end in trying to make a connection. Gloria casually propped her hand against the confessional (yes, the very same one where Sebastian was killed) but immediately retracted her hand with a start. Scenes of how Sebastian was murdered flashed through her mind. She opened the confessional and was aghast to see Padre Sebastian, bloodied and all. Unable to see Gloria's visions, a visibly enraged Simon disputed the validity of what Gloria claimed to have seen. He then railed at her to talk to Sebastian and ask him who the killer really was. Sebastian, with his eternally serene and forlorn countenance, trained his eyes on Gloria. He stood up from the confessional booth and walked away. With tears streaming down her face, Gloria could do nothing but follow Sebastian with her eyes as the priest ambled on towards the altar.

^ marcos & the MDJs ^

Two MDJs attacked Marcos and nearly succeeded. As a result, Calixto arranged for his men to be stationed outside Marcos' room {which is what should've been done right from the start of Marcos' hospitalization!!}. Afterwards, Calixto talked to Marcos about the MDJ. Marcos was still convinced of Altagracia's innocence (much to Calixto's chagrin) but also shared that it seemed to him that Berenice knew something about what happened during the night of January 3. Calixto argued that the old woman was nuts! But Marcos was rather sure that Berenice was keeping something and that Altagracia doesn't wanna talk about it either.

^ altagracia & juaca ^

Both were fully occupied in looking for the glass cabinet all over the mansion. The only place left unturned was the attic. After getting the key from Dulce, Altagracia told her not to tell anyone about it, prompting Dulce to wonder if Juaca and Altagracia already knew where the money was. Despite poor lighting and amidst the layers of dust, they finally found the glass case. Altagracia was about to see what's inside when the door suddenly shut and the thunderstorm intensified. Juaca said that maybe it was Marina's ghost. After gathering their wits, they found a wooden case (or what seemed to be a wooden version of a safety deposit box) with a note from Juan Vicente saying it was for his daughter Marina. Juaca and Altagracia were abound with excitement for they'll finally find out the contents of the box.

^ pancho, leoncio, rebecca, cordelia ^

We see Pancho in Caracas, looking a little lost and definitely sticking out like a sore thumb. To his "rescue" was Leoncio, who managed to dupe Pancho into handing over his jacket and watch. No thanks to Leoncio's help (or the lack of it), Pancho found his way to Cordelia's doorstep. It was also there that he found out that the scumbag he met was none other than Cordelia's long lost father. Cordelia clearly nursed a different notion of her father coz her disappointment was apparent when she met Leoncio (she even had to ask Rebecca if Leoncio was truly her dad). Later on, when they were more settled, Leoncio revealed the mystery behind his sunglasses - he now sported an aweful injury to his left eye, courtesy of Juan Vicente del Toro. Leoncio claimed that the old man almost killed him and that was why he had to leave Carora (and his family) 20 years ago.

^ salomon & elma ^

Salomon and Elma were combing through company documents. Salomon wanted to be doubly prepared for the meeting that was set by Gloria. Elma wanted to help but he told her that he'll be the one to take care of this since it was his area of expertise anyway. Elma can't wait for Salomon to be the president of Bodegas del Toro (and for her to be the first lady, of course).

^ gloria et al. ^

The "kids" finally decided on a nocturnal visit to the tunnel/basement. They were still in the room when Gloria suddenly froze. Father Sebastian was with them in the room. He was gesturing for Gloria to follow him. And so they went. While the others were getting more frantic by the minute, Gloria told them that Padre Sebastian never got her into trouble before so she wasn't worried that the priest was leading them into a wild-ghost {hehe}, er, wild-goose chase. Sebastian led them deeper and deeper into the tunnel until they came upon a door. The other side of the door was a very dusty room and they noticed that smoke was coming from the trapdoor. Amidst the protests of the scaredy cats (Rene and Petunia), Simon and Gabriel opened it. Gloria peered through the trapdoor and saw that Sebastian was down there. Determined to find out where the priest was leading them to, Gloria decided to follow Sebastian and go further down the tunnel. The others followed suit.

^ ricarda, chichita, salomon ^

* continuation of Ricarda and Chichita's conversation
Unbeknownst to them, Salomon was listening in on their conversation. He overheard them talking about the child witness and how Chichita thought that it was Alirio. The two women were about to go to Juaca and Altagracia when they found out that Salomon was eavesdropping on them. Since Salomon won't let them leave, they were forced to tell Salomon what they were talking about. After they've left, Salomon was deep in thought, wondering if the child witness could really be Alirio.

Salomon shared his concerns with Elma - that he could very well be the child witness too. His father was an associate of the old man del Toro and he would frequently tag along with his dad. Elma reminded Salomon that he was Jewish so he didn't have any business at all being at the church at that time.

Salomon asked Elma what her plan was (re: Gloria and Altagracia). She said that if the company "somehow" went bankrupt, then chances are that Bodegas del Toro won't be able to pay the $10,000 it owed her. When that happens, she'll be "forced" to take legal action, leaving Gloria with no choice but to turn over the company to her, which in turn would make Salomon the owner of Bodegas del Toro. With an equally wicked smile, Salomon pulled Elma closer to him and said that he liked her idea.

^ rebecca, cordelia ^

Cordelia and Rebecca arrived at the Center, where the latter also lived. After that, Rebecca went over to talk to Leoncio (who was having a few drinks in a bar). She told him that Cordelia was there and that he should drop by the Center to visit. Rebecca warned Leoncio to clean up first and told him that Cordelia didn't know anything. Cordelia doesn't know that Rebecca is her mom! When Rebecca got home, she told Cordelia the news. Cordelia was elated that she's finally gonna meet her father.

^ simon, rene, gabriel, petunia, gloria, micaela ^

Gloria and the rest of the gang found out that Simon might be the child who witnessed Sebastian's murder. Gloria insisted that Simon tell them everything. Simon rehashed the same story he's been telling everyone else - that he saw the blood, got scared, ran to hide - except this time there was another detail. That he ran towards the tunnel. The boys asked if that tunnel was the same one near the basement. Simon wasn't sure. It was then decided that they'll all go to the basement, that perhaps it will help refresh Simon's memory.
- Petunia and Rene were back to being a couple again.
- Simon and Micaela were making goo-goo eyes at each other.

^ juaca & altagracia ^

Juaca was telling Altagracia that she was getting scared of what Calixto and Marcos may find out. Altagracia replied that should the child witness finally surface, it would surely spell trouble for them.

Chichita and Ricarda walked into their office. Chichita disclosed that she thought the child witness might be none other than Alirio. Altagracia cautioned them to be mum about it for the meantime coz if Calixto got wind of this info, then it will only fuel his investigation. He now believes that the child witness is Simon and true enough, he's been harassing Simon about it. Chichita and Ricarda had no idea who Simon was so Altagracia had to explain that Simon is actually the brother of Marcos. Juaca urged them to think back, that during that time, Alirio, Ismael, Simon and Salomon were still very young and roughly of the same age bracket, so it was possible that the child witness could be any of the four. Chichita recounted that the old Vaisman always had his kid along with him. They were exploring the chances of Salomon being at the church at that time and the issue of his being Jewish came up. But Ricarda insisted that she knew Salomon's dad was there coz he had to meet someone. Altagracia spoke up that it was her father that the old Vaisman had a meeting with. But at the church?! Yes, they would be talking about their agreement and according to Altagracia, her father believed that it should be sealed with God as their witness. Juaca suddenly realized that something didn't add up -- that if the agreement was sealed even before Sebastian's death, then it meant that nothing has happened yet, that it wasn't about Altagracia at all. If so, then when did Juan Vicente sign those documents?! To make things even more confusing, they found out from Ricarda that the other person who was there with Juan Vicente in the church was Leoncio.

Chichita said that if it were true that Salomon was there during that night, then he would have spoken up by now. Meanwhile, she'll try to find out if any of her sons had anything to do with it. Altagracia told her that she better hurry coz Marcos is also investigating the issue, and that they should be the first one to know. Chichita voiced out that she was already losing patience over Marcos' meddling and it would be better if he just stayed in the hospital. Ricarda agreed with her, saying that Marcos' zeal was even worse than Calixto's. The conversation was already winding down and it just occured to Altagracia that her dad's notebook was just lying on top of her desk. Ricarda, however, noticed the notebook that Altagracia was surreptitiously trying to hide. Ricarda immediately got suspicious about it, even more when Altagracia refused to show her what the notebook contained. * yada yada yada * Ricarda decided to leave for now but told Altagracia that it didn't mean that she's gonna stop looking for the money.

Juaca finally found the drawing that matched Marina's key. It was for the old cabinet that contained the weapons of Juan Vicente. Both women were filled with renewed excitement since that cabinet might contain the money that everone was looking for. They decided to head home to look for the cabinet. As they were leaving, Altagracia said that she had to do something first before they proceed to the mansion.

* Hospital scene
Marcos was fast asleep. But it turned out he wasn't alone in the room. Someone was preparing a syringe. {Medicine? Poison? Hmmm...}

^ salomon, elma, gloria, alirio ^

Elma burned the pages that Salomon ripped off from the document. For a minute there, Salomon appeared to have an attack of guilt. Elma told him that she has already thought of a plan to kick Gloria and her aunt Altagracia out of the house and the company. With the document in hand, Salomon went to look for Gloria. Elma followed suit.

Gloria and Alirio were poring over some files when Salomon and Elma walked into the office. Salomon asked Gloria why she was seated behind his desk (the president's desk). Gloria answered that she was only assuming her rightful position as owner of the company and Salomon stood right where he belonged, as her employee. Salomon seemed more infuriated by Alirio's nearness to Gloria and told her that he thought that their conversation was supposed to be private. If so, then how come Elma was there also, Gloria shot back. * more arguments, not just about the company but about the wedding as well *

After the couple left, Alirio praised Gloria for showing Salomon who the rightful "boss" was. After getting the document from him, Gloria told Alirio to leave the room. Alirio was flabbergasted by her clipped tone, as he thought the two of them would be working "together" especially after everything that he did for her back in Curacao. Gloria told him that there won't be any mention of Curacao anymore and there won't ever be "something" else between them. She still hasn't forgotten the atrocities orchestrated by Alirio against her. She capped the conversation by saying that she's an entirely different person now, the "old" Gloria was left behind on that island and won't ever come back.

^ ricarda, ludovico, chichita ^

Ricarda was in tears as she worried about Cordelia. Ludovico gathered her in his embrace to comfort her. Then Ludovico sat behind the desk as he talked about his dreams of becoming the president and taking over the company, with Ricarda as the woman of his life. Ludovico motioned for Ricarda to sit on his lap as he talked some more about their life together. They were fully occupied in kissing each other when Chichita walked in on them. Naturally, Chichita was livid at the scene she witnessed {although I think her reaction was more subdued than in other fits of jealousy I've seen her}. Ludovico told both women to cease their bickering as he might have a heart attack right there and then. Chichita revealed that both hers and Ricarda's pregnancies were mere fabrications - that they just got caught up in competing with each other over his affections. Ricarda denied this initially but later on admitted that she wasn't really pregnant. Chichita said that she's getting tired of this competition and demanded that Ludovico choose between her and Ricarda, once and for all. Ricarda echoed her sentiments and set the timeframe: Ludovico has one week to choose between the two women. Ludovico stood up, told them that one week is too short a time for him to make up his mind, then stalked out of the room.

Once Ludovico was gone, the conversation between the two women took a different turn. Ricarda told Chichita about her worries about Cordelia while Chichita confessed her anxiety over her two sons. Yes, she also got a call from Juaca about the "child witness" and she strongly suspected that it might be one of her sons, both of which attended catechism classes with Padre Sebastian. Ricarda tried to allay Chichita's fears by saying that it was highly unlikely since catechism classes ended at 3pm, while the crime happened in the evening. It was raining that afternoon so it was impossible that the boys stayed behind to play. But what if they were at the church that night, Chichita insisted. Ricarda made the sign of the cross, horrified at the thought that one of the boys may have seen them when they made their confession.

^ petunia & rene ^

Petunia wanted to straighten things out with Rene but their fight only escalated. Instead of patching up, the two broke off their relationship. As Rene walked out on her, Petunia was clearly frustrated over his close-mindedness. But she finally said that perhaps it was better that way, as she loved somebody else anyway.

^ marcos, calixto, juaca, altagracia, simon ^

Calixto saw the possibility of having two MDJs: one was in charge of scaring off people while the other one took care of the killing. He told Marcos to try to get better soon as they were getting closer to finding out who the MDJ is. Marcos asked after Altagracia and Calixto confirmed that she was indeed coming over.

* simon, altagracia & juaca entered Marcos' room
Altagracia asked Marcos what happened. Marcos answered that the MDJ wanted to kill him and that he found out something very important as well, that there were two MDJs. It was Juaca who reacted that it was impossible. Calixto took his cue and swooped in on Juaca, asking her why she thought it was impossible, asking her if she was there when it happened. The policeman pressed on - that the reason why Juaca said it was impossible was because she knew something about it. Altagracia intervened and told Calixto that it wasn't the right time and place to discuss that. Marcos agreed with Altagracia and instructed Calixto to stop it. But Calixto just became more accusatory towards Juaca and kept on badgering her. The doctor walked in on the commotion and ordered that everyone get out of the room as they weren't helping Marcos, not one bit. Altagracia apologized to the doctor as she urged Juaca to take leave. Everyone filed out of the room.

* simon, calixto, marcos
Simon told Marcos about the conversation he had with Juaca and Altagracia - that he told them what he remembered from that night. Marcos was caught by surprise. Evidently, he wasn't aware that Simon was there when Sebastian was murdered. It turned out that Simon didn't tell his brother about the whole thing coz he didn't want to add up to Marcos' problems and besides, he was very young then. Marcos stressed how important it was that Simon remember something about that night but the events Simon remembered were the same things that he told Juaca & Altagracia. Calixto said that it was imperative that Simon further probe his memory since he is the key in solving the case.

^ chichita, alirio, ismael ^

Alirio was goading Ismael to remember what happened that night. He wasn't a baby anymore at that time so it was impossible for him not to recall anything. After some thought, Ismael recalled that his 1st communion was postponed because the priest died at that time. Alirio gave him a look that silently told Ismael to elaborate further. It was at that moment that Ismael finally began to see the connection -- that the priest who died was indeed Padre Sebastian! He can't believe that he wasn't able to think of that earlier. Ismael turned to Chichita and asked if they have anything to do with Sebastian's death. To which Chichita gave a resolute "no."

Alirio bitterly recounted that they were coerced by their mother to attend catechism, not mindful of their tearful protests and the fact that they didn't want to. He told Ismael that the only reason their mom did that was so she could see Padre Sebastian. Chichita, unable to reign in her anger, then gave Alirio a deafening slap on the face. A huge fight erupted, with Alirio screaming that what their mother did was unforgivable! After Alirio stormed off, Ismael was left to comfort his tear-streaked mom.

^ gloria, salomon, elma ^

Gloria was about to enter her room when Salomon stopped her and requested that they have a talk. An obviously irate Gloria conceeded but they still ended up arguing anyway. Salomon was trying to explain what happened but Gloria would hear none of it. Salomon asked her if she was able to read the letter he wrote her. Gloria, who was clueless about the said letter, then taunted Salomon to say to her what the letter contained. * more fighting * Gloria vowed that she's not gonna believe anything that Salomon would say anymore.

Elma found them talking in the hallway and in usual fashion, claimed her right over Salomon. Gloria retorted that she didn't care anymore, that instead, it was her husband she'd have to talk to since it was Salomon who wouldn't quit following her around. * yada yada yada * Gloria further warned Elma about Salomon. Elma told Gloria that she doesn't believe in Gloria's supposed indifference to Salomon - with all the fuss she made about the wedding ring. Gloria answered that the ring came from a beggar she met - that the beggar's grimy appearance was just as filthy as his inner self - looking at Salomon's pained countenance as she went on with her character assasination of the said "beggar." Salomon then told Gloria to leave them alone. He and Elma were already married and that's that. Gloria sarcastically shot back that it was them who should up and leave her house! Salomon asked if they could just forget everything instead. Elma reminded Gloria that she couldn't just throw them out of the house, that she has to uphold was what stipulated in the document left behind by Juan Vicente del Toro. Gloria told them that Salomon had an hour to present the document to her so that she could read it. Otherwise, they had to get out of her sight -- out of her house and away from the vineyard as well.

Salomon chided Elma for having brought up the existence of the document. Gloria will surely find out about his forgery. Elma replied that the problem of finding a new place to live is what promted her in the first place. Salomon demanded that Elma give him the original document, as per the agreement they made. Elma told him that she kept it in the bank and that she already gave them a call for the papers to be sent over. What she had in her possession at that moment was a copy of the said document, which she gave to Salomon. Salomon detached a few pages off that document, muttering that it was for precaution, so that he can still save his hide later on.

^ rebecca & cordelia ^

Cordelia was having a grand time with Rebecca in Caracas. As they were walking, Cordelia told Rebecca that she still can't believe her mom agreed to this. Rebecca answered that perhaps it was because they've known each other for some time already and Ricarda knew Cordelia would be in good hands. Cordelia wondered at this because she doesn't remember her mom talking about Rebecca before. Rebecca answered that it was such a long time ago, even before she was born. It so happened that her house was near the construction site where Leoncio worked. This came as a surprise for Cordelia. She wasn't aware that Rebecca knew her father. Rebecca balked at this, saying that she hasn't seen Leoncio in a long while. Cordelia asked a favor from Rebecca: that she help Cordelia look for Leoncio.

^ altagracia, simon, juaca ^

Simon was sick with worry over his brother's condition especially now that Calixto's very insistent that it was the MDJ who attempted to kill his brother. Altagracia said that they can't do anything about it if that is what Calixto believes. What's that got to do with her anyway?
S: Siguro naisip lang ni Calixto na..
J: Naisip ni Calixto na kaming dalawa ni Altagracia ay may nalalaman at ayaw lang naming umamin. Patahimikin mo nga kami.
A: Juaca, huminahon ka. Si Simon ay walang kasalanan. Nag-aalala siya sa kapatid niya kaya siya narito.
S: Tama. Hindi ko lang kasi maisip kung sino yung dalawang taong nagtangka sa buhay ng kapatid ko.

Juaca then inquires about Simon's age. A puzzled Simon turned to Juaca.

Simon was pleading with Altagracia, that if she knows anything about it at all, she might want to share it with him. For Marcos' safety. Simon again lamented on the recent turn of events. That he's the only one left in their family and what's gonna happen to him should Marcos die? Juaca, who was standing somewhere at the back and away from Simon's line of vision, silently motioned to Altagracia not to say anything. Altagracia then told Simon to listen carefully to what she was about to say. She really wants to help Simon & Marcos, but Simon has got to believe her that she doesn't really know anything. Simon revealed that he's getting scared, that Marcos might die, like what happened to his brother Sebastian. Altagracia intimated that he doesn't know how much she has suffered because she was there in the church during the night of the crime. Simon began recounting what he remembered during that night. It has been 20 years since he last saw his brother. He planned on attending catechism coz he planned on having his 1st communion with Sebastian. When pointedly asked if he was there when the priest was killed, Simon answered affirmatively. Yes, he was there but he doesn't remember anything from what happened. He was so young then and he remembered being so frightened. When he saw the blood, the gruesome sight almost caused him to throw up, so as much as possible, he wanted to push that memory away from his consciousness. And that's why he doesn't recall anything at present.

Altagracia was taking it all in. She asked Simon if he saw all those blood in the confessional. Simon nodded. He recalled hiding at that point. Then he heard a loud scream that got him scared all over again. He didn't know what to do but he did not take flight either. He needed to wait for Sebastian so that his brother could take him home. It took him very long before he was able to go out of hiding. Juaca, having felt that it was time to end the conversation, began insinuating that they've got a busy day ahead of them and that Simon better leave already. Simon cut her off and addressed Altagracia instead. He said his purpose in going there was to request that Altagracia come with him to the clinic. Marcos was restless last night and it was Altagracia's name that he kept on saying. Simon thought that Marcos' condition might improve with Altagracia's presence. Juaca interjected that while that may be true, they really had a lot of work to do and they'll be running out of time. Simon continued to plead his case with Altagracia, who seemed to be weighing down things. Altagracia finally decided to go with Simon. A defeated Juaca felt she had no choice but to go with them as well.

^ marcos & calixto ^

We see an obviously weak Marcos being attented to by the doctor. Marcos was starting to get his humor back so the doctor lightly told him that he's gonna be fine. Marcos asked about Altagracia. The doctor informed him that she came to visit him earlier, also Simon, who was very worried about him. Calixto was right outside too. Marcos wanted to talk to Calixto, saying that he has something very important to tell him.

Calixto told Marcos that 2 bullets did him in, he was shot twice by the MDJ. The policeman further warned him to take caution since the MDJ will certainly not gonna let him live through the next attack. Marcos told Calixto that it was not Altagracia who shot him, that it was the other one. Calixto was taken aback by this revelation. Who was it, he wanted to know, was it Juaca? Marcos described to him that he was facing the MDJ, but he recalled that the shots came from behind him. There were 2 MDJs. Of that, he was certain.

whew! another long one... (",)

^ ricarda, rebecca, cordelia ^

Rebecca tried again to convince Ricarda to let Cordelia come to Caracas with her. Both women were in tears as Cordelia walked into the house. Ricarda explained it away by saying that she was just happy to see Cordelia in a wedding dress. It was then that she said that she has a surprise for Cordelia, which the latter met with wariness, seeing that her mom's "surprises" usually left much to be desired. But it was definitely good news this time as Ricarda finally relented to Rebecca's request. Yep, she's allowing Cordelia a few days in Caracas! Both Rebecca and Cordelia were overjoyed at Ricarda's decision.

Ricarda was giving Cordelia a few words of advice. She warned her daughter not to believe in idle talks without talking to her about it first. Ricarda was definitely more agitated than her usual high-strung self. Next, we see Rebecca and Cordelia on board a bus headed for Caracas. Cordelia was both happy and a little nervous since it was her first time to leave Carora. She never had time for vacations since she was always immersed in her work. They've been having a hard time keeping their finances afloat so she wanted to help out her mom with that. Rebecca told her not to worry for she'll certainly enjoy herself on this trip. Back home, Pancho paid a visit to their house and found out that she's on her way to Caracas. After leaving his present for Cordelia, Pancho told Ricarda that he's leaving for Caracas as well.

^ gloria ^

Gloria vowed to make life difficult for the newlyweds. Although, admittedly, it would also be a hard situation for her since her room isn't exactly miles away from Salomon & Elma.

^ chichita, ismael ^

Chichita was having a conversation with Ismael. She was asking Ismael if he truly does not recall anything from that tragic night. Ismael affirmed that he's not like Alirio who remembers practically everything. Chichita then proceeded to confide in Ismael that what Alirio said was true. She fell in love with someone else years ago and she was even prepared to turn her back on her family.. ("kakila-kilabot.. kasumpa-sumpa ang nangyari...") and Alirio will never forgive her for that. Ismael reassured her mom that, in time, Alirio will eventually forgive her. Chichita then tenderly looked at her younger son, apologizing for being a negligent mother and for always focusing on Alirio when Isamel has been nothing but a good and loving son who's always there for her to take care of her. She then told him that she has a gift for him. She's going to give him the key that was given to her by Juan Vicente, the key that she previously gave to Alirio.

Obviously enjoying the recent turn of events, Alirio was wishing that Gloria would kick Salomon out of the house already so that he'll be the one to take over as president of the company. Chichita then appeared and badgered him to return the key that she gave him before. Ismael then told his mom that he'll be going to Caracas. Alirio returned to hand over the key and after Chichita passed on the key to Ismael, Alirio naturally jeered at his brother.

^ altagracia & juaca ^

Juaca might as well be talking to a wall, for all the attention that Altagracia was giving her. A distracted Altagracia quickly apologized, saying that she had things on her mind. She went to visit Marcos and his condition wasn't good at all as he was still fighting for his life. Juaca then exclaimed that Altagracia need not worry about anything ("Ang masamang damo, matagal mamatay!") -- that just give him a few days more and he'll be up and about like nothing ever happened. But that wasn't the only thing that Altagracia was worried about. She told Juaca that Calixto thinks it was the two of them who shot Marcos, that they supposedly got scared of the said witness and that was their reason to plot against Marcos' life. Juaca advised her friend to calm down and not to agonize over it. Calixto was just desperate to find out who the MDJ is but he won't be finding out anything anyway.
J: Kung patuloy kang maaawa diyan kay Marcos, baka tayo pa ang mapahamak.. at hindi lang tayong dalawa ha! ang iyong mama, ang aking anak, ang mga anak ni Chichita, at pati na rin si Ricarda!
A: Wag mong sabihing ako pa ang iyong sinisisi?! Baka nalimutan mong si Gloria mismo ang nag-uungkat ng mga pangyayari? Dapat kasing mapigilan na ang pakikialam ng anak mong iyan.

Ernesto walked into the office, looking for Salomon. He apologized for the intrusion and then asked if they have already asked Salomon about the problem they encountered regarding the vineyard, as the situation calls for immediate action. He already thought of a solution that might work. Altagracia told him that they weren't able bring that up with Salomon yet. As Ernesto was about to leave, he said he remembered Altagracia & Juaca's conversation the other day about the keys bequeathed by Juan Vicente. And that there was an instance that he discovered Chichita, Ludovico & Ricarda in that very same office ("..pilit nilang binubuksan yung kahon diyan sa itaas..") {"kahon" yung ginamit na word sa show pero it wasn't really a box. i don't know what to call it either but it was more like a panel or small compartment dun sa furniture set against the wall.} It looked like they were looking for something but Ernesto had no idea what it was. Perhaps, it contained money, he added. Altagracia suggested that they destroy the keyhole so that they'll find out why it was locked in the first place. With the use of a hammer and a bunch of keys (that Juaca found in one of the desk drawers), Ernesto went about the task of opening it. I'm not sure if it was the hammer or one of the keys, but the "box" was finally unlocked. Juaca and Altagracia looked on expectantly as Ernesto reached for whatever it is that was inside. Lo and behold, the mystery treasure was a dusty notebook!

Altagracia clutched the notebook to her chest. It was an old notebook of her father ("isa itong kayamanan sa akin"). Ernesto apologized since he didn't realize how important it was to Altagracia. He was glad though that he was the one who found the notebook. Juaca was equally happy for Altagracia ("talagang para sa iyo lang ang notebook na 'yan"). Ernesto was still baffled why the notebook had to be concealed that way. It was Juaca who answered his question ("isa yang mahalagang alaala ng mga personal na bagay na isinulat noon ni Don Juan Vicente. mga alaala sa isang simpleng notebook"). Altagracia thanked Ernesto for all his help.

* Altagracia's house
The following day, Altagracia told Juaca that she already read the notebook but it seemed virtually useless. Altagracia showed her the contents of the notebook, more importantly to the pages which had illustrations of numerous keys with corresponding descriptions of its intended purpose. Since it was basically a catalogue of some sort, Juaca thought of matching the drawing against the key that she has. After fishing the key out of her bag, she handed it over to Altagracia..
A: Juaca, hindi ito ang iniwan sa iyo ni papa. Ang susi na ito ay kay Marina. At paano napunta sa 'yo ang susi ni Marina?! {with eyes narrowing into thin slits}
A: Kunin ang susi niya.

They began to match the keys to the drawings on the notebook.
J: Altagracia, papano kaya kung huli na nung binilin niya ang mga susing iyan at pagkatapos hindi na niya nai-record ang mga iyon sa notebook?
A: Kung ganoon, kailangan nating magsimula sa umpisa, Juaca. Kung kinakailangang subukan ang n\mga susi sa buong Carora, gagawin natin iyon.
J: Alam mo Altagracia, hindi ako nakatulog kagabi sa kaiisip kung sino ang batang naroon nung gabing iyon sa simbahan.
A: Yun bang batang testigo?
J: Oo, maaaring ibang bata iyon o pwede ring...

They were interrupted by the arrival of a visitor. Simon was ushered into the house and he wanted to speak with Altagracia. Juaca looks over at Simon and silently thought, "Maaaring siya ang kapatid ni Marcos. Maaari ngang siya iyon..."
